DRAFT Areas of Focus
Conditions I treat:
Sleep - issues falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up too early
Acute and Chronic Pain Relief
Whether it's acute or chronic, pain is pain.
What can acupuncture do for you?
Acupuncture can decrease pain by releasing endorphins and other pain-modulators into the blood stream.
Acupuncture promotes healing by increasing blood circulation and causing a micro-injury that prompts the body to heal the local area.
Sports Conditioning and Rehabilitation Support
Whatever activity you like to do, I imagine you want to continue doing for as long as you can.
For sports conditioning, the acupuncture treatment focuses primarily on areas of the body used in your sport. This ensures that the muscles and fascia are receiving optimal blood flow and nutrition.
The acupuncture treatment for a recent injury or repetitive strain focuses on improving circulation in the local area, reducing pain, and speeding recovery. A balanced approach ensures that the underlying conditions are addressed. Proper nutritional support is key.
My approach when working with children is to start with acupressure and Chinese Medical massage, known as Tuina. With time I gain the trust of the child and we can discuss the possibility of acupuncture. Acupressure and pediatric massage go a long way, so acupuncture may not even be necessary.
Chinese Medicine is good at treating a number of pediatric conditions including asthma, cough, poor immunity, sleep problems, constipation and diarrhea.
Chinese Medicine is also appropriate for treating developmental delays, mood disorders, hyperactivity (ADHD) and autism in children ages six months to 16 years.
Acupuncture for Kids!
GOALs: See kids thrive and increase their mind-body connection
Fertility, Pregnancy and Labour Support
Regular acupuncture treatments can assist with fertility, for both parents.
During pregnancy, acupuncture treatments can support the womb and fetus and reduce the nausea, heartburn, insomnia, and other issues related to pregnancy. Acupuncture and bodywork can help prime the parent and baby for labour and delivery in the third trimester.
In addition, at Toronto AcuBirthing, we use acupuncture and acupressure to ease the transition from pregnancy to labour and delivery. This includes attending births at hospitals and birthing centres.
There is also 'fourth' trimester support when Chinese Medicine can be used to aid recovery and promote lactation.
